What’s new in WP Grid Builder Map Facet 2.1.1

Version 2.1.1 · Oct 5, 2026 Latest
  • FixedHardened the map marker popup against crafted requests.
  • FixedGoogle Maps markers accumulating after filtering when the facets refreshed while the map was still loading.

What it does

Location-based content is hard to browse as a plain list. A directory of shops, a set of travel posts or a team spread across cities makes more sense on a map. This add-on lets you build map facets with Google Maps, Mapbox or the open-source Leaflet API, then show your posts, terms or users as markers. When visitors pan or move the map, the grid updates to match what is in view, so the map and the results stay in step.

Setup works with coordinates stored in custom fields, with support for Advanced Custom Fields and Meta Box, and you can also add or edit coordinates from the grid preview. A geolocation facet lets visitors search for a place through Google or Mapbox, or use the browser Geolocation API to find their current position. A Sort facet can order results by distance. Developers get PHP filters and JavaScript events for adjusting map behavior and marker content.

Best for

  • Local business and store directories
  • Travel blogs and destination guides
  • Developers building location-based WordPress grids

Features

Three map providers

Build map filters with Google Maps, Mapbox or Leaflet, the open-source option, and pick the provider that suits your site and your project's needs.

Markers for posts, terms and users

Display posts, taxonomy terms or users as markers on the map, placed using their stored longitude and latitude coordinates.

Geolocation search facet

Visitors can search for a location through the Google or Mapbox APIs, or detect their current position with the browser Geolocation API, then filter content around it.

Filtering by map panning

As visitors pan or move across the map, the filtered grid content updates so the results reflect the area currently shown.

Marker clustering

Nearby markers are grouped into clusters, which keeps the map readable when you have many locations close together.

Sort results by distance

A dedicated Sort facet orders filtered results by how close they are to a chosen location or to the visitor's current position.

Custom field coordinates

Store latitude and longitude for posts, users or terms with Advanced Custom Fields or Meta Box, or add and edit coordinates from the grid preview.

Styles and developer hooks

Register or unregister Leaflet tile providers and Mapbox styles, and use PHP filters and JavaScript events to customize map interactions and marker content.

Questions about WP Grid Builder Map Facet

Do I need WP Grid Builder to use this?

Yes. WP Grid Builder Map Facet is an add-on for WP Grid Builder. It adds map-based facets that filter the grids you build with that plugin, so the main plugin is needed for it to work.

Which map services can I use?

You can create map facets with Google Maps, Mapbox or Leaflet, which is open source. You can also register or unregister Leaflet tile providers and Mapbox styles to change how the map looks.

How do I add coordinates to my content?

Latitude and longitude can be stored in custom fields using Advanced Custom Fields or Meta Box, for posts, users or terms. You can also add and edit coordinates directly from the grid preview.

Can visitors find content near their own location?

Yes. The geolocation facet can detect a visitor's current position through the browser Geolocation API, or let them search a place using Google or Mapbox. A Sort facet can then order results by distance.

Is WP Grid Builder Map Facet free?

The code of WP Grid Builder Map Facet is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of WP Grid Builder Map Facet is this?

Version 2.1.1, released Oct 5, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.

How do I update WP Grid Builder Map Facet?
