What it does
Embedding a video on a page does not tell search engines much about it. They need structured data, a sitemap entry and a thumbnail to understand what the video is and how to list it. Setting all of that up by hand takes time and technical knowledge. This plugin does that work automatically, adding VideoObject markup to your videos and creating dedicated video sitemaps that join your existing XML sitemap. The goal is to make it easier for Google to find your videos and show them in rich results.
The plugin also covers how videos behave on the page and when shared. It loads video content with asynchronous JavaScript, sizes videos responsively for desktop, tablet and phone, and adds OpenGraph tags so previews display properly on Facebook, Slack and other networks. You can upload and preview custom thumbnails before publishing. It works with videos hosted on platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo, and it includes access to the Yoast SEO Academy for learning more about SEO.
