What it does
Running a digital marketplace on Easy Digital Downloads normally means giving sellers access to the WordPress dashboard, which is awkward and risky. EDD - Frontend Submissions moves that work to the front end. Sellers sign up through a registration form, add products through a submission form you can customize with extra fields, attach one or more files and edit their listings later. Each vendor gets a dashboard for tracking sales, managing products and updating their profile.
On the admin side, you decide what goes live. Submissions can be reviewed, approved or rejected before they appear in the store. You can set a global commission rate or give individual vendors their own rates, and email notifications keep both you and your sellers informed about submission status and sales. Because it builds on Easy Digital Downloads, payments and product management run through the store you already have, and vendors can also sell subscription products.
Best for
- Easy Digital Downloads stores becoming multi-vendor marketplaces
- Sites selling digital goods from many independent creators
- Agencies building digital product marketplaces for clients

Vendors add and edit digital products from the front end of your site, so they never need access to the WordPress admin area.
Add your own fields to the submission form to collect the product details your marketplace needs from each seller.
Set one commission rate for every seller or assign specific rates to individual vendors, so earnings are split automatically on each sale.
Sellers get their own area to track sales, manage their products and update their profile details, with a vendors report that includes graphs.
Review each submitted product and approve or reject it before it goes live, keeping control over what appears in your store.
Vendors can attach one or more digital files to a single product, which suits bundles and products with several formats.
Frontend registration forms let new sellers sign up, and automated emails notify vendors and admins about submission statuses and sales.
Vendors can sell subscription-based products and services through your store using recurring payments.
Questions about EDD - Frontend Submissions
Do vendors need access to the WordPress dashboard?
No. Vendors register, submit products, edit listings, track sales and update their profiles from the front end of your site. The WordPress admin area stays limited to you and your team, who handle moderation and commission settings.
Can I check products before they are published?
Yes. Submissions can be reviewed, approved or rejected before they go live. Email notifications let vendors know the status of their submissions, so they are kept informed throughout the moderation process.
Can different vendors have different commission rates?
Yes. You can set a global commission rate that applies to all sellers, then assign vendor-specific rates where needed. Earnings are shared automatically based on these rates whenever a sale is made.
