What’s new in GP Expand Editor Textareas 1.1.5
- FixedFixed an issue where the Expand Textarea button overlapped the GP Advanced Calculations formula editor.
What it does
The settings textareas in the Gravity Forms editor are small. That works for a short label, but it gets awkward when you are writing a block of HTML, a long calculation formula or a post body template. You end up scrolling inside a tiny box and losing track of where you are. This plugin adds an expand option that opens the content in a larger modal window, where it is easier to read, check and change.
Out of the box it works on the fields that gain the most from extra space: HTML content, calculation formulas and post body content. You can also set it to add the expand option to every textarea in the form editor. When automatic expansion is turned on, the modal opens as soon as a textarea gets focus. You make your edits in the modal and save them straight back to the form. It fits into the Gravity Perks collection of Gravity Forms add-ons and suits anyone who builds detailed, content-heavy forms.
Best for
- Gravity Forms users who write HTML inside form fields
- Form builders working with long calculation formulas
- Sites that create posts from Gravity Forms submissions

Questions about GP Expand Editor Textareas
Does this change the text boxes my visitors fill out?
No. The plugin works inside the Gravity Forms form editor, where admins and form creators edit field settings. It expands the editor textareas used for things like HTML content, calculation formulas and post body templates, giving the person building the form more room to work.
Which fields does it work on by default?
By default it targets HTML content, calculation formulas and post body content, since those tend to hold the longest text. You can change the settings to add the expand option to any textarea in the form editor.
Do I have to click a button every time to open the larger editor?
Not necessarily. There is an automatic expansion option that opens the modal as soon as you focus on a textarea. If you prefer, you can use the expand option manually only when you need the extra space.
What do I need to use it?
It is an add-on for Gravity Forms and part of the Gravity Perks collection from Gravity Wiz, so you need Gravity Forms on your WordPress site to use it.
