GP Limit Checkboxes
GP Limit Checkboxes by Gravity Wiz is a Gravity Forms add-on that controls how many checkboxes a person can select. You set a minimum, a maximum or both, and the limit can apply to one checkbox field or be shared across several fields in the same form.

What’s new in GP Limit Checkboxes 1.3.23
- FixedFixed issue where checkbox limits were re-evaluated for every field with conditional logic, causing poor performance on large forms.
What it does
Checkbox fields in Gravity Forms let people pick as many options as they like, which is a problem when a survey asks for your top three choices or a registration form needs at least two sessions selected. This add-on adds minimum and maximum limits to checkbox fields, so submissions arrive in the shape you expect. Users who pick too few or too many options are stopped by validation, which cuts down on entries you would otherwise have to clean up or follow up on by hand.
The settings live inside Gravity Forms and work with the forms you already have. Beyond per-field limits, a span option lets you enforce one shared limit across multiple checkbox groups, which helps on forms that split options into sections. It works with conditional logic, AJAX-enabled forms and other Gravity Perks add-ons, plus user input steps in Gravity Flow. Developers get JavaScript methods and filter hooks for custom behavior, and translations such as German are included.
Best for
- Sites running surveys or polls built in Gravity Forms
- Event and course registration forms with session choices
- Developers building complex Gravity Forms and Gravity Flow workflows
Features
Set the lowest and highest number of checkboxes a user can select in a field, so entries meet your requirements before they are submitted.
Apply one limit that spans several checkbox fields in the same form, useful when related choices are split into separate groups or sections.
Selections outside the allowed range are caught by validation, helping prevent invalid or incomplete submissions from reaching your entries list.
Limits keep working on forms that use conditional logic or AJAX submission, so you can add them to more complex Gravity Forms setups.
Works with user input steps in Gravity Flow, and with Gravity Forms snippets such as the "None of the Above" option.
JavaScript methods and filter hooks let developers customize how limits behave and extend the add-on for specific project needs.
Includes translations such as German, which helps when your forms serve visitors who use languages other than English.

Questions about GP Limit Checkboxes
Can I require users to pick at least a certain number of checkboxes?
Yes. You can set a minimum, a maximum or both on a checkbox field. If a user selects fewer than the minimum or more than the maximum, validation stops the form from submitting until the selection fits the limits you set.
Can one limit cover more than one checkbox field?
Yes. The span feature lets you apply a shared limit across multiple checkbox fields in the same form. This is handy when options are grouped into separate fields but you want a single total limit across all of them.
Does it work with conditional logic and other Gravity Perks?
It is compatible with conditional logic, AJAX-enabled forms and other Gravity Perks add-ons. It also works with user input steps in Gravity Flow and with snippets such as "None of the Above".
Do I need Gravity Forms to use this?
Yes. GP Limit Checkboxes is an add-on for Gravity Forms and adds its limit settings to checkbox fields inside that form builder, so Gravity Forms needs to be active on your site.
Is GP Limit Checkboxes free?
The code of GP Limit Checkboxes is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of GP Limit Checkboxes is this?
Version 1.3.23, released Apr 10, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update GP Limit Checkboxes?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of GP Limit Checkboxes automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
