Gravity Perks File Renamer
Gravity Perks File Renamer by Gravity Wiz is a Gravity Forms add-on plugin that renames uploaded files automatically when a form is submitted. You set a naming template with static text and merge tags, and every file gets a clear, consistent name based on the entry it came from.

- FixedFixed an issue where GP File Renamer could prevent Advanced Conditional Logic rules from being applied.
What it does
Files uploaded through forms usually keep whatever name the visitor's device gave them, which leaves you with folders full of names like IMG_0042 or scan-final-2. This plugin fixes that by applying your own naming template to each upload at submission time. Templates can mix fixed text with merge tags, so a filename can include details such as the submitter's first and last name or the entry ID. That makes client uploads, images and documents much easier to find later without renaming anything by hand.
It works with the File Upload, Multi-file Upload and Post Image fields in Gravity Forms. Beyond renaming, you can add prefixes or suffixes while keeping the original name, prevent duplicate filenames with numeric increments, and sort uploads into custom folders, for example one folder per entry ID. It also works with Gravity Forms File Upload Pro and with Media Library so renamed files can be stored in WordPress. Developers get hooks and filters to adjust sanitization, template handling and whitespace rules.
Best for
- Gravity Forms sites collecting client documents or images
- Agencies managing uploads across many form entries
- Developers who need custom file naming rules
Features
Uploaded files are renamed as soon as the form is submitted, following the naming template you set, so every file follows the same convention.
Build filenames from static text and dynamic merge tags, pulling in submission details such as the user's first and last name or the entry ID.
Add text before or after the existing filename, with the option to keep the original file name as part of the result for extra context.
Numeric incrementers or custom rules keep filenames unique, so two uploads with the same resulting name do not collide.
Send uploads into structured folders automatically, such as grouping all files from a single entry under a folder named by its entry ID.
Works with the File Upload, Multi-file Upload and Post Image fields in Gravity Forms, covering single files, multiple files and post images.
Filenames can use any language or special characters, which helps sites that collect submissions in languages other than English.
Filters let developers control filename sanitization, how templates are applied, whether whitespace is allowed and other details of the renaming process.

Questions about Gravity Perks File Renamer
Which Gravity Forms fields does the renaming work with?
It supports the File Upload, Multi-file Upload and Post Image fields. Any file submitted through those fields can be renamed using the template you define, whether the form accepts one file or several.
Can I include the person's name or entry ID in the filename?
Yes. Naming templates accept merge tags alongside static text, so filenames can reflect submission details such as the user's first and last name or the entry ID. You can also keep the original filename and add a prefix or suffix.
What happens if two files end up with the same name?
The plugin includes deduplication options. It can add numeric increments or apply custom rules so each filename stays unique, without you having to sort out conflicts manually.
Does it work with Gravity Forms File Upload Pro and the Media Library?
Yes. It works with Gravity Forms File Upload Pro and integrates with Media Library, which lets renamed files be stored directly within WordPress.
