MEC Waiting List by Webnus Team is an addon plugin for Modern Events Calendar. When an event reaches capacity, it shows a waiting list form so interested people can reserve a place in line, then moves them into the attendee list as spots open up.

What it does
A sold-out event usually means turning people away, and when someone cancels, the empty seat can be hard to fill in time. This addon gives organizers a way to keep collecting interest after tickets run out. Visitors fill in a dedicated waiting list form attached to the event, and their entries are ranked in order. You get a clear picture of demand, and the people who wanted in stay in the queue instead of leaving for good.
When a cancellation frees a spot, waiting list members can be moved to the main attendee list based on their ranking. Freed spots can also generate a time-limited offer with a claim link, and unclaimed seats pass to the next person in line. Verification and confirmation emails keep attendees informed, while admins manage waitlisted people with the same controls used for regular bookings. It fits anything run on Modern Events Calendar, from small workshops to large conferences.
Best for
- Event organizers running Modern Events Calendar
- Workshops, classes and conferences that regularly sell out
- Venues wanting a fair queue for cancelled seats
Features
Build custom waiting list forms and assign them to any event, so people can join the queue once the event hits capacity.
When cancellations occur, waiting list members move into the attendee list according to their reservation ranking, keeping the order organized and fair.
Freed spots create an offer with a tokenized claim link. If the person does not claim it in time, the seat goes to the next in queue.
Verification statuses are handled automatically, and dedicated email templates with placeholders cover verifying and confirming reservations as well as offers, reminders and cancellations.
Set a cap on how many reservations the waiting list accepts, which helps keep demand balanced and avoids overbooking.
A dashboard shows KPI cards, outcome charts, the events under the most pressure and recent activity across your waiting lists.
Users get a front-end area where they can view and manage their own waiting list entries without contacting the organizer.
Every state change, allocation, email and admin action is logged, giving you a full record of how each waiting list entry was handled.

Questions about MEC Waiting List
Does this work without Modern Events Calendar?
No. It is an addon built for Modern Events Calendar and extends that plugin's booking system with waiting list forms, queue management and automatic allocation of freed spots.
What happens when someone cancels their booking?
The freed spot goes to the waiting list according to each member's ranking. A time-limited offer with a claim link can be sent, and if it is not claimed, the seat is offered to the next person in the queue.
Can attendees check their own place on the waiting list?
Yes. A front-end My Waiting List page lets users view and manage their waiting entries, and notification emails keep them informed about offers, reminders, expiry and cancellations.
Can I limit how many people join the waiting list?
Yes. You can set a limit on the number of reservations the waiting list accepts, which keeps the queue manageable and helps prevent overbooking.
Is MEC Waiting List free?
The code of MEC Waiting List is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of MEC Waiting List is this?
Version 2.0.0, released Sep 19, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update MEC Waiting List?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of MEC Waiting List automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
