What it does
Standard WordPress allows a single author per post, which falls short when articles are written by teams, reviewed by editors or contributed by freelancers. This plugin lets you assign as many authors as a post needs, so every contributor gets credit. Guest authors can be added without creating WordPress accounts, yet they get the same profile options as regular users. Author assignments also work on custom post types, so portfolios, reviews and product pages can carry author credits too.
Each author profile can hold custom fields such as text, email addresses, social media links and rich WYSIWYG content, plus a chosen avatar. You can group authors into categories like Editors, Reviewers or Coauthors, build author lists with layouts, filters and search, and shape author archive pages by choosing what appears, such as excerpts, tags and read-more links. Author details can be shown through widgets, shortcodes or automatically below content. The plugin works with Polylang for multilingual sites and removes PublishPress branding and ads.
Best for
- Multi-author blogs and online magazines
- Sites publishing work from freelancers and guest writers
- Multilingual editorial sites running Polylang

Questions about PublishPress Authors Pro
Can I credit a writer who doesn't have a WordPress account?
Yes. You can create guest authors who have no WordPress login. They still get full author profiles with bios, avatars, social links and other custom fields, just like authors who are registered users on your site.
Does it work on content other than regular posts?
It does. Author assignments can be extended to custom post types, so content such as portfolios, reviews or product pages can show one or more authors in the same way blog posts do.
How do author details appear on my site?
You can display author information automatically below content, through widgets or with shortcodes. You can also build author lists with filters and search, and customize author archive pages with excerpts, tags and read-more links.
Will it work on a multilingual site?
The plugin is compatible with Polylang, so if your multilingual site uses that plugin you can keep author profiles consistent across your language versions.
Is PublishPress Authors Pro free?
The code of PublishPress Authors Pro is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of PublishPress Authors Pro is this?
Version 4.17.0, released Sep 23, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update PublishPress Authors Pro?
