What it does

Content often goes live with missing pieces: no featured image, a title that runs too long, forgotten tags or a missing ALT attribute. This plugin lets you turn your editorial standards into checklist items that authors work through right next to the content editor. Each item turns from red to green once it is done, and if required tasks remain unfinished, authors are told exactly what still needs attention before the post can be published.

Rules can be marked as required or recommended, with minimum and maximum values for things like word count, tag count and title or excerpt length. Beyond the basics, you can require posts to pass Yoast SEO, Rank Math SEO or All in One SEO checks, use OpenAI to review tone, spelling and grammar, and set approval by users in specific roles. Store owners can apply checklists to WooCommerce products too, with over 20 criteria available.

Best for

  • Editorial teams with multiple authors
  • Blogs that want consistent post formatting
  • WooCommerce stores managing product listing quality

Questions about PublishPress Checklists Pro

Can it stop authors from publishing incomplete posts?

Yes. When required checklist items are not finished, the plugin notifies authors which requirements remain incomplete so content does not go live early. Recommended items can be set for tasks you want encouraged but not enforced.

Does it work with my SEO plugin?

It can require posts to pass validations from Yoast SEO, Rank Math SEO or All in One SEO. You add these as checklist items alongside your other rules, so SEO checks become part of the same publishing review.

Can I use checklists for WooCommerce products?

Yes. Checklists can be applied to WooCommerce products as well as posts and pages, with over 20 different criteria available for products, so listings meet your standards before they appear in your store.

What does the OpenAI integration check?

The OpenAI integration scans your content for appropriate tone, spelling accuracy and grammar correctness. It works as one of the checklist tasks, giving authors feedback before they publish.

Is PublishPress Checklists Pro free?

The code of PublishPress Checklists Pro is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of PublishPress Checklists Pro is this?

Version 2.29.0, released Aug 10, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.

How do I update PublishPress Checklists Pro?
