What’s new in SearchWP Custom Results Order 1.3.12
- FixedImproved compatibility with recent PHP versions when checking for plugin updates.
- FixedPromote to Top results are now applied reliably, including when synonyms or search filters change the search term.
What it does
Default WordPress search ranks results by its own rules, and those rules do not always match what you want people to find. A visitor searching for a common term might see an old post ahead of your main guide or product page. This extension adds a manual layer on top of SearchWP, so you can pick the results that matter for a given keyword and place them where you want them in the list.
You work keyword by keyword. Promote a post or page to the top with one click, then drag and drop promoted results to set their order. Custom rankings can be applied to an unlimited number of keywords, and if you run more than one SearchWP engine, each engine can have its own ranking. Exact match handling is on by default to keep loosely related hits out of the results. Promoted results still apply when synonyms or search filters change the search term.
Best for
- Sites already using SearchWP for on-site search
- Content-heavy blogs and knowledge bases with key guides
- Agencies tuning search results for client websites

Questions about SearchWP Custom Results Order
Does this work on its own or do I need SearchWP?
It is an extension for SearchWP, so it adds custom ordering to SearchWP search results. You enable it from the SearchWP dashboard, and it works with the search engines you have set up there.
Can I set a different order for different keywords?
Yes. Each keyword can have its own custom ranking, and there is no limit on how many keywords you can customize. You can also promote one page across several keywords.
What if my site has more than one search engine?
If you use multiple SearchWP engines, each one can have its own ranking logic. That lets a support section and a blog section, for example, return results in different orders for the same term.
Will promoted results still show when synonyms are used?
Yes. Promote to top results are applied even when synonyms or search filters change the search term, so your chosen order holds when the query is rewritten behind the scenes.
