What it does
Running bbPress next to a membership plugin usually means members end up with two separate identities: a forum profile and a site profile. This extension joins them. bbPress user profiles are transferred to Ultimate Member profiles, and forum user links redirect there, so every click on a member's name leads to one place. It works without editing any bbPress templates, which keeps the setup simple for site owners who would rather not touch theme files.
Once connected, each member profile can show a forums tab listing that person's topics and replies, along with counts of each. Members can manage their forum subscriptions and favorites from their profile. On the admin side, you can choose which roles see the forums tab, restrict forum and topic access by role, set posting and reply permissions per role and forum, and block topic creation for certain roles on specific weekdays. It requires bbPress and fits small niche communities as well as larger sites with many member roles.
Best for
- Membership sites running bbPress discussion forums
- Online communities that want unified member and forum profiles
- Sites needing role-based forum access and posting rules
Features
bbPress user profiles are automatically moved over to Ultimate Member profiles, so each member keeps a single, consistent identity across the forums and the rest of the site.
Clicks on forum user links send visitors to the member's Ultimate Member profile instead of the default bbPress profile page, keeping all profile views in one location.
A dedicated tab on each profile lets members and visitors browse the topics and replies that person has posted, without hunting through the forum itself.
Profiles display how many topics and replies a member has written, giving a quick read on how active that person is in the community.
Members can manage their forum subscriptions and favorite topics directly from their profile, making it easier to follow the discussions they care about.
Choose which user roles get the forums tab on their profiles, so you can show forum activity only for the member groups where it makes sense.
Restrict forum and topic access by user role, and set who can post or reply in each forum, to create members-only areas or keep discussions focused.
Disable new topic creation for selected roles on specific weekdays, which helps moderators manage posting volume on the days they choose.

Questions about Ultimate Member bbPress
Do I need to edit bbPress templates to use this?
No. The integration works without any bbPress template editing. Profile transfer, link redirection and the forums tab are handled by the plugin, so you do not need to modify theme or forum template files to connect the two systems.
What forum activity shows up on a member's profile?
A forums tab on the Ultimate Member profile lists the member's topics and replies, and the profile also shows topic and reply counts. Members can manage their forum subscriptions and favorites from the same profile, so their forum activity sits alongside the rest of their account details.
Can I limit forum access to certain member roles?
Yes. Content restriction settings let you control forum and topic access by user role. You can also set post and reply permissions per role and per forum, decide which roles see the forums tab, and stop specific roles from creating topics on chosen weekdays.
What other plugins does it need?
It requires bbPress, since it connects bbPress forums to Ultimate Member. You will need both Ultimate Member and bbPress active on your WordPress site for the integration to work.
Is Ultimate Member bbPress free?
The code of Ultimate Member bbPress is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Ultimate Member bbPress is this?
Version 2.1.9, released Nov 14, 2024. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Ultimate Member bbPress?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Ultimate Member bbPress automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does Ultimate Member bbPress need?
Ultimate Member bbPress needs bbPress installed and active.
