What it does
Standard member directories list people by name or profile fields, which makes it hard to see who lives nearby. This extension adds a location field to registration and profile forms, so each member can share where they are. A browser permission prompt can detect the location automatically, which saves members from typing an address. The data then feeds into the member directory, where visitors can search by area and find people close to a given place.
On the directory page, an interactive Google Map shows members as avatar markers. Members who live close together are grouped into clusters, which keeps the map readable as your community grows. Clicking an avatar opens a small profile card with the display name and custom directory details, and dragging the map lets visitors look at other regions. It suits clubs, professional networks, organizations and social communities already running Ultimate Member that want members to connect locally.

Does this work without Ultimate Member?
No. It is an extension for Ultimate Member, made by the same developer. It adds location fields to Ultimate Member registration and profile forms and adds map and location search features to Ultimate Member directories.
What mapping service does it use?
The map is built on the Google Maps Platform. Member locations appear on an interactive Google Map on the member directory page, with avatars as markers, clustering for nearby members and profile cards that open when you click a marker.
Do members have to type their address manually?
They can, but they do not have to. The location field can detect a member's location through browser permission, so sharing their whereabouts takes a single click once they allow the browser to provide it.
Will the map get cluttered with lots of members?
The extension uses clustering to group members who live close together. This keeps the map clear when many members are shown, and visitors can zoom or drag the map to see individual avatars in a given region.
