What it does
Community sites built on Ultimate Member often collect plenty of profile data, but members still have a hard time spotting people who share their interests or skills. This extension solves that with tags. As the admin, you set up the list of tags, and users choose from them when they register or later when they edit their profile. Tags can be arranged into parent and child groups, so you can build a structured set of categories instead of one long flat list.
Once members have tags, those tags become a way to browse the community. Each tag on a profile is clickable and leads to a filtered member directory listing everyone who shares it. You can show tags in the main profile area or in the profile header, and optional descriptions appear when someone hovers over a tag. A widget can also list the most popular tags along with how many users have each one, giving visitors a quick view of common interests on the site.

Does this work without Ultimate Member?
No. User Tags is an extension for the Ultimate Member plugin and adds its tagging features to Ultimate Member profiles and member directories, so your site needs Ultimate Member in place for it to work.
Can users create their own tags?
Tags are created by site administrators. Users then choose from that admin-defined list when they register or when they update their profile later, which keeps the tag set consistent across the community.
