What it does
On a post with hundreds of comments, finding one reply or one person's feedback usually means scrolling and skimming. This add-on gives the wpDiscuz comment section its own search form. Readers type a keyword and matching comments show up right away through AJAX, with no page reload. Results are paginated the same way, so moving through a long list of matches keeps the reader on the same page and in the same conversation.
Search goes beyond the comment text. You can look up comments by author name, author email address or custom fields, which helps moderators who need to track down a specific commenter. A separate widget lets visitors search comments across all posts and pages. Site owners can choose whether guests see the search form, adjust colors, backgrounds, borders and phrases to match the site design, and translate every front-end phrase. Settings live in a panel inside wpDiscuz.
Best for
- Blogs with long, active comment threads
- Community sites and forums built on wpDiscuz
- Moderators who need to find comments by author or email
Features
Live AJAX comment search
Matching comments appear as visitors type into the search form, and results load without refreshing the page they are reading.
Four search modes
Search by comment text, comment author name, author email address or custom fields to find the exact comment or commenter you need.
AJAX pagination for results
Long result lists are split into pages that load in place, so readers can browse matches without leaving the current post.
Sitewide comment search widget
A widget extends search to the comments on every post and page, letting visitors find discussions from anywhere on the site.
Guest visibility control
Choose whether guest users can see and use the search form, or keep it available only to logged-in visitors.
Front-end style options
Change the colors, backgrounds, borders and phrases of the search form so it fits the look of your existing comment section.
Translatable phrases
Every front-end phrase can be translated, which makes the search form easy to present in your audience's language.
