What’s new in wpDiscuz - Online Users 7.1.1
- NewA new option to manage users who can have “online” status
What it does
On most sites, the comment section gives no hint about who is actually around. A reader can't tell whether the person they want to reply to left hours ago or is browsing right now. This addon solves that by placing an online or offline badge next to each comment author's name. The badges refresh through AJAX, so status changes appear without anyone reloading the page, and the discussion feels more current to the people reading it.
The addon also shows pop-up notifications when a user logs in. Each pop-up includes the person's avatar, name and a short excerpt of their latest comment with a link to it, which gives visitors a reason to jump back into a thread. You control the look of the badges and pop-ups from the wpDiscuz settings, and you can choose which users are allowed to have an online status. It requires the wpDiscuz plugin and works inside your existing comment setup.
Best for
- Blogs with active wpDiscuz comment threads
- Community and membership sites with logged-in users
- Publishers who want comment discussions to feel live
Features
A badge next to each comment author's name shows whether that person is currently online or offline, so readers can spot active participants at a glance.
Badges update in real time using AJAX, which means visitors see status changes in the comment section without refreshing the page.
When a user logs in, a pop-up appears showing their avatar, their name and an excerpt of their last comment.
Each login notification includes a clickable link to the user's latest comment, giving visitors a quick path back into the discussion.
Styling settings inside wpDiscuz let you adjust how the badges and notification pop-ups look so they match the design of your site.
An option lets you manage which users can have an online status, so you decide whose presence is displayed in comments.
The addon is made specifically for the wpDiscuz commenting plugin and runs within your existing comment system rather than replacing it.
