What it does
Standard WordPress comments are text only, which makes it hard for readers to share a screenshot, a photo of a finished project or a short clip. This add-on adds media upload buttons to the wpDiscuz comment form so people can attach files directly to what they write. Uploads run through AJAX, so files are checked for size, count and type in real time without reloading the page. Visitors can attach a single file or several at once, depending on how you set it up.
On the front end, images open in a lightbox and video or audio files play in HTML5 players right inside the comment. Site owners decide which file types and sizes are allowed, which user roles (guests included) can upload, and which buttons appear. Every front-end phrase can be translated from the settings, and the layout is responsive with right-to-left language support. It works as an extension of wpDiscuz, so it fits sites already running that comment plugin.
Best for
- Blogs already using the wpDiscuz comment plugin
- Community sites where members share photos or screenshots
- Multilingual and right-to-left language websites
Features
Commenters can attach photos, videos, audio files, PDFs and other document types, with dedicated buttons for each kind of media in the comment form.
Choose whether users attach one file per comment or several files at once, depending on how your community discussions work.
Files upload without a page reload, and the plugin checks file size, number of files and file type in real time as they are added.
Users see image previews before submitting and can rearrange the order of their attachments before the comment is posted.
Attached images open in a lightbox, while video and audio files play in HTML5 players displayed directly within the comment thread.
Control which user roles can upload media, including guests, so you can keep attachments limited to the people you trust.
Commenters can remove or change their attachments during the comment editing time frame, giving them a chance to fix mistakes.
All front-end text can be translated from the settings, and the uploader is responsive with full support for right-to-left languages.

Questions about wpDiscuz - Media Uploader
Do I need wpDiscuz for this to work?
Yes. This is an add-on for the wpDiscuz comment plugin and extends its comment form with media uploading. You need wpDiscuz running on your site for the uploader buttons, previews and media displays to appear in your comments.
Can I stop guests from uploading files?
Yes. Upload permissions are based on user roles, and guests are one of the roles you can allow or block. This lets you keep attachments limited to registered members or specific roles if you want closer moderation.
What file types can commenters attach?
Commenters can attach photos, videos, audio files, PDFs and other file types. You control which types and file sizes are accepted, and uploads are checked against those limits before they are added to a comment.
How do attached videos and images look in comments?
Images display as thumbnails that open in a lightbox, and videos and audio files play in HTML5 players right inside the comment. The layout is responsive, so attachments display properly on phones, tablets and desktops.
Is wpDiscuz - Media Uploader free?
The code of wpDiscuz - Media Uploader is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of wpDiscuz - Media Uploader is this?
Version 7.1.7, released Dec 7, 2025. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update wpDiscuz - Media Uploader?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of wpDiscuz - Media Uploader automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
