Amazon S3
Amazon S3 by WPChill is an add-on plugin for Download Monitor that connects your downloads to files stored privately on Amazon S3. It serves those files through signed links that expire after a set time, so visitors can download them without the files sitting in public view.

- FixedError when selecting a file from the Amazon S3 browser.
What it does
Hosting downloadable files on your own server can be limiting, and public file links are easy to pass around. This add-on lets you keep files in non-public Amazon S3 storage and still offer them through Download Monitor. Instead of handing out a permanent address, each download uses a timed URL that stops working after a set period. That makes casual link sharing far less useful and keeps your files private between downloads.
Setup is short. You enter your Amazon AWS access keys, then link your S3 files to your Download Monitor downloads. The plugin detects links that point to S3 and adds the authentication query string needed for timed access, so you do not have to sign anything by hand. There is also an Amazon S3 file browser for picking files. Because it builds on Download Monitor, you keep managing and tracking downloads the way you already do, and your server must run a PHP release recent enough for Amazon's signed URL requirements.
Best for
- Sites selling or sharing digital files through Download Monitor
- Site owners keeping large files in Amazon S3 storage
- Digital marketers who want to limit download link sharing
Features
Attach non-public files stored in Amazon S3 to your Download Monitor downloads, so cloud storage fits into the download setup you already use.
Each download is served through a timed URL that expires after a set period, which keeps files private and limits unauthorized sharing.
The plugin detects links pointing to S3 and appends the required authentication parameters automatically, with no manual editing of URLs.
Enter your Amazon AWS access keys in the settings and the add-on can begin serving your S3 files through signed links.
Select files from an Amazon S3 browser when setting up a download, rather than copying and pasting file paths by hand.
Your S3 files are managed and tracked through Download Monitor, so download counts and file management stay in one familiar place.

Questions about Amazon S3
Do I need Download Monitor to use this add-on?
Yes. This is an extension for the Download Monitor plugin, and it works by connecting Amazon S3 files to the downloads you manage there. Without Download Monitor in place, the add-on has nothing to attach to.
How do the expiring links protect my files?
Your files stay private in Amazon S3. When someone downloads, the plugin adds an authentication query string that creates a timed URL. Once that period passes, the link stops working, so a shared link is of little use to anyone else.
What server requirements should I check?
Your server needs a PHP release recent enough to meet Amazon's security requirements for signed URLs. You will also need Amazon AWS access keys for the account where your files are stored, since the plugin uses them to sign download links.
Can my S3 files stay private?
Yes. The add-on is built to link non-public Amazon S3 files to your downloads. Visitors receive a temporary signed link instead of a permanent public address for the file.
Is Amazon S3 free?
The code of Amazon S3 is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Amazon S3 is this?
Version 4.1.3, released Sep 28, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Amazon S3?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Amazon S3 automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does Amazon S3 need?
Amazon S3 needs Download Monitor installed and active.
