What’s new in Envira Gallery 1.17.2

Version 1.17.2 · Oct 7, 2026 Latest
  • FixedAI image generation works again. The feature had stopped working on every site when the image provider retired the model Envira used.
  • FixedGenerating AI images now requires permission to upload files and to edit the gallery they are added to.
  • FixedAI-generated images now arrive in the Media Library with proper titles instead of being named 0, 1 and 2.
  • FixedAn AI image import that fails partway through no longer leaves unused images behind in the Media Library.
  • ImprovedAI image sizes are now Square, Landscape and Portrait. The previous pixel-size options are no longer accepted by the image provider.
  • ImprovedA failed AI image generation now reports whether it was a quota, permission or provider problem, instead of one generic error.
  • ImprovedImporting AI-generated images no longer regenerates image sizes twice per image.
  • FixedThe block editor's gallery picker now lists all of your galleries instead of only the ten most recent, and searching now finds older galleries.

What it does

Putting a large set of images on a WordPress site can get messy without a proper gallery tool. This plugin gives you a drag and drop builder for uploading, arranging and customizing galleries without writing code. You choose from gallery templates, adjust them to match your branding, and add custom CSS if you want finer control. Galleries can hold photos and videos together, and finished galleries open in fullscreen lightbox slideshows.

The plugin also covers the work that comes after a gallery is built. Photographers can sync edits from Adobe Lightroom, pull images in from Instagram, and add text or image watermarks. Sensitive galleries can sit behind a password, with right-click disabled. With WooCommerce, you can sell photos straight from a gallery and handle order proofing. There is also an AI image generation option offering square, wide and portrait sizes, plus scheduling to control when a gallery is visible.

Best for

  • Photographers building portfolios or client galleries
  • Bloggers who publish lots of photos and videos
  • Creatives selling prints and photos through WooCommerce

Questions about Envira Gallery

Can I put videos and photos in the same gallery?

Yes. You can embed videos from YouTube, Vimeo and Wistia, or add self-hosted video files, and mix them with photos in a single gallery. Galleries display in fullscreen lightbox slideshows on desktops, tablets and phones.

Can I sell my photos from a gallery?

Yes, through WooCommerce. The plugin connects galleries to WooCommerce so visitors can buy photos directly from them, and it includes order proofing. You do not need to write code to set this up.

How can I protect my images from being copied?

You can add custom text or image watermarks to your photos, place galleries behind a password, and disable right-click. Together these options discourage people from reusing your work without permission.

Does it work with the WordPress block editor?

Yes. The block editor includes a gallery picker that lists all of your galleries, and you can search it to find older ones, which makes it easy to place any gallery into a post or page.

Is Envira Gallery free?

The code of Envira Gallery is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of Envira Gallery is this?

Version 1.17.2, released Oct 7, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.

How do I update Envira Gallery?

Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Envira Gallery automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
