What’s new in Videos Addon 1.7.7
Version 1.7.7 · Oct 7, 2026
Latest
- FixedSetting a video thumbnail now requires permission to edit both the video and the thumbnail image.
What it does
Envira Gallery handles image galleries well, but many sites also have video to share, and embedding clips one by one on a page gets messy fast. This addon brings video into the same gallery workflow you already use for photos. Adding a video works much like adding an image, so you can build a collection of clips, arrange them with drag and drop, and present them in a tidy grid that adapts to desktop, tablet and mobile screens.
The addon fetches thumbnails automatically from supported platforms, and you can swap in your own thumbnail image when you want previews that match your branding. For YouTube content, you can set a custom start time so a clip opens at the moment you want viewers to see, and you can pull in your personal YouTube playlists to display a whole set at once. It suits bloggers, marketers and businesses who already run Envira Gallery and want video in their galleries.
Best for
- Sites already using Envira Gallery for image galleries
- Bloggers and creators sharing YouTube or Vimeo content
- Businesses mixing product photos with demo videos
Features
Wide video platform support
Add videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, DailyMotion, Twitch and VideoPress, or use self-hosted video files, all inside the same Envira Gallery gallery.
Automatic thumbnail retrieval
Thumbnails are fetched automatically from the video source, so each gallery item gets a preview image without you having to create one by hand.
Custom thumbnail choice
Replace any fetched thumbnail with an image of your own to keep previews consistent with your site's look. Setting one requires permission to edit both the video and the image.
YouTube start times
Embed YouTube videos that begin at a specific time stamp, which is handy for pointing visitors straight to the most relevant part of a longer clip.
Personal YouTube playlists
Import and display your own YouTube playlists in a gallery, so a full series of videos can appear together without adding each one separately.
Responsive gallery layouts
Video galleries adjust to different screen sizes, giving visitors on desktop, tablet and mobile a layout that fits their device.
Drag and drop ordering
Arrange and manage the videos in a gallery with drag and drop, the same way you organize images in Envira Gallery.

Questions about Videos Addon
Does this work without Envira Gallery?
No. It is an addon for the Envira Gallery plugin and adds video capabilities to the galleries you build there. You need Envira Gallery running on your site to use it.
Which video sources can I add to a gallery?
You can add videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, DailyMotion, Twitch and VideoPress. Self-hosted videos are supported too, so clips stored on your own server can sit in the same gallery as embedded ones.
Can I use my own thumbnails instead of the automatic ones?
Yes. The addon fetches thumbnails automatically, but you can choose your own image for any video. The user setting the thumbnail needs permission to edit both the video item and the thumbnail image.
Can I show a whole YouTube playlist at once?
Yes. You can import your personal YouTube playlists and display them in a gallery, which saves adding each video individually. You can also set YouTube videos to start at a chosen time stamp.
Is Videos Addon free?
The code of Videos Addon is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Videos Addon is this?
Version 1.7.7, released Oct 7, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Videos Addon?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Videos Addon automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
