What it does

Many processes need more than one form. An application gets evaluations, an order gets a review, a request gets follow-up notes. Without a link between those submissions, someone has to match entries by hand, which takes time and invites mistakes. This extension solves that by connecting entries automatically. One form acts as the parent, and entries from a child form attach to a specific parent entry, so the relationship is recorded when the data comes in.

On the entry details screen, parent and child entries appear in metaboxes that explain the relationship, and you can add a child entry from there through a modal with an embedded child form. Child entries can also be part of Gravity Flow workflow steps, so follow-up tasks keep moving after the parent form is submitted. It fits teams already using Gravity Flow who want multi-stage processes kept organized without extra manual linking.

Best for

  • Organizations reviewing applications with separate evaluation forms
  • Businesses pairing orders with follow-up reviews or feedback
  • Teams running multi-stage approval workflows in Gravity Flow

Features

Parent and child form linking

Designate one form as the parent and another as the child, so follow-up submissions are automatically connected to the original entry they belong to.

Related entries in one place

View a parent entry together with its child entries on the entry details screen, which makes it easier to review everything tied to one submission.

Add child entries from details

Open a modal on the entry detail screen to fill in an embedded child form, creating a new child entry linked to the parent you are viewing.

Explanatory entry metaboxes

Parent and child entry metaboxes describe how entries relate, helping reviewers understand the connection between submissions at a glance.

Workflow continuation

When a parent form is submitted, child submissions or follow-up tasks can be triggered as part of the Gravity Flow workflow to keep the process moving.

Configurable linking rules

Customize how and when child forms are linked so the setup matches your own business rules and workflow requirements.

Status and progress tracking

Track the status and progress of related submissions, which helps you spot where a multi-step process is slowing down.

Questions about Gravity Flow Parent-Child Forms Extension

Do I need Gravity Forms and Gravity Flow to use this?

Yes. The extension is built to extend Gravity Flow's workflow features and works with forms made in Gravity Forms. It adds parent and child relationships between those forms rather than working as a standalone form builder.

What kinds of processes is this suited to?

It suits any process where one submission leads to related follow-ups. Common examples are applications paired with evaluations, orders paired with reviews, and multi-stage evaluations where several people add input connected to the same original entry.

Can I add a child entry while looking at a parent entry?

Yes. On the entry detail screen you can open a modal containing the embedded child form. The submission is saved as a child entry linked to the parent entry you are viewing, so there is no need to connect them manually.

Will child entries attach to the wrong parent?

Child entries are linked to the specific parent entry they were created for, not to every parent form entry. Entries without a parent are kept separate and do not show sibling entries from the parent form.
