What’s new in SearchWP bbPress 1.3.1
Version 1.3.1
Latest
- FixedIssue with omitting Private/Hidden Forums when using SearchWP 4
- ImprovedUpdated updater
What it does
Out of the box, bbPress limits how forum topics and replies show up in WordPress search results. On an active community site, that means useful conversations and solved questions can be hard to find. This integration closes that gap by adding bbPress content to the SearchWP index. Once it is turned on, topics and replies become part of the results your visitors see, so a search for a common problem can surface the thread where it was already answered.
The plugin works alongside SearchWP, so you get its tools for shaping results. You can adjust rankings to push priority topics higher, include or exclude specific forum content, and offer live Ajax search that shows suggestions as people type. A search popup and a Gutenberg block let you place forum search inside posts and pages. Search analytics show which queries visitors run, which helps you spot gaps in your forum content. It also handles private and hidden forums so they can be kept out of results.
Best for
- Community sites running bbPress forums
- Product support forums with many answered questions
- Site owners already using SearchWP for site search

Questions about SearchWP bbPress
Does this plugin need SearchWP to work?
Yes. It is an integration for SearchWP, so it adds bbPress forum content to the SearchWP index. You use SearchWP's tools for ranking, live search and analytics, with this plugin bringing your forum topics and replies into that search.
Will replies show up in search, or only topics?
Both. The plugin indexes bbPress topics and replies, so a visitor can find an answer even if the matching text appears in a reply deep inside a thread rather than in the opening post.
Can I keep private or hidden forums out of search results?
Yes. The plugin handles omitting private and hidden forums, and its indexing options let you include or exclude specific forum content so search only returns what you want visitors to see.
Can I add a forum search box to a regular page?
Yes. You can use the Gutenberg block to place forum search inside posts and pages, or embed a customizable bbPress search popup elsewhere on your site.
Is SearchWP bbPress free?
The code of SearchWP bbPress is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of SearchWP bbPress is this?
Version 1.3.1, released Feb 27, 2023. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update SearchWP bbPress?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of SearchWP bbPress automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
