What’s new in SearchWP Co-Authors Plus 1.2.0
Version 1.2.0 · Feb 4, 2023

What it does
Default WordPress search ignores most author information, which makes it hard for readers to find articles by a particular writer, especially when posts have several credited authors. This extension fixes that by adding the author data managed by Co-Authors Plus to the SearchWP index. First and last names, display names and author bios all become searchable, so a search for a writer's name returns the posts they contributed to.
You can fold author data into your main site search or set up a separate search that looks only at author criteria. Results are ranked by author relevance and keyword matches, and you can promote or demote specific posts to adjust what shows up. It also works with live Ajax search, which shows suggestions and results as visitors type. It suits collaborative blogs, magazines, news sites and other content-heavy sites built around many contributors.
Best for
- Collaborative blogs with posts credited to several writers
- Online magazines and news sites with many contributors
- Content-heavy sites already using SearchWP and Co-Authors Plus

Questions about SearchWP Co-Authors Plus
Which plugins do I need for this to work?
This is an extension, so it works alongside the SearchWP core plugin and the Co-Authors Plus plugin. Co-Authors Plus manages the multiple author credits on your posts, and SearchWP handles the search. The extension connects the two so author data becomes part of your search index.
What author information becomes searchable?
The extension indexes author first and last names, display names and bios. That means visitors can search by a writer's name, or by details mentioned in their bio, and find the posts that author is credited on, including posts shared with co-authors.
Can I keep author searches separate from my regular site search?
Yes. You can add author data to your main search, or build dedicated searches that look only at author criteria. You can also promote or demote posts within author searches to control which content appears first.
Does it work with live search as visitors type?
It supports live Ajax instant search, which shows suggestions and results while someone is typing. Readers can find articles by a specific author quickly without going to a separate results page first.
Is SearchWP Co-Authors Plus free?
The code of SearchWP Co-Authors Plus is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of SearchWP Co-Authors Plus is this?
Version 1.2.0, released Feb 4, 2023. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update SearchWP Co-Authors Plus?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of SearchWP Co-Authors Plus automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
