What it does

On sites with lots of content, a search for a general topic often returns a long list of individual posts. Many of those visitors would be better served by the category or tag archive that groups everything on that subject. This plugin addresses that by giving term archive pages priority in SearchWP results, so the archive for a matching category, tag or custom taxonomy term can appear near the top of the list.

It works inside your existing SearchWP setup and needs very little configuration. You can adjust the weight given to different term archives to control how strongly they rank, and the prioritization is balanced so individual posts and pages still appear. It suits blogs, news sites and stores with many product categories, and it supports any custom taxonomy you define in addition to the default categories and tags.

Best for

  • Content-heavy blogs with many categories and tags
  • News and magazine sites organized by topic
  • Stores with large numbers of product categories

Features

Priority for term archives

Moves category, tag and taxonomy archive pages higher in search results so visitors can reach grouped listings on a topic instead of scrolling through single posts.

Adjustable prioritization levels

Lets you set the weight assigned to different term archives, giving you control over how far up the results each type of archive appears.

Custom taxonomy support

Handles any custom taxonomy you register on your site, along with the standard WordPress categories and tags, so all your archive types can be prioritized.

Balanced with regular content

Gives archives a boost without pushing individual posts and pages out of view, keeping the results list useful for visitors looking for specific items.

Minimal setup

Starts prioritizing term archives with little configuration and no coding, so you can add it to a SearchWP site without building custom search logic.

Front-end search focus
