What it does

Running a community on WordPress usually means stitching together a forum, a profile plugin and some way to reward active members. This plugin puts those pieces in one place. You pick from four forum layouts (Extended, Simplified, Threaded and Q&A) to match how your members talk, then organize forums and categories with a drag and drop hierarchy that supports parent and child relationships and a custom order. A multi-board system lets you run several separate forums inside one WordPress site, which suits sites with distinct topics or language-specific communities.

Members get profiles with tabs for activity, subscriptions, bookmarks and account settings, so you may not need a separate profile plugin. A points-based reputation system rewards likes, posts and new topics. Moderators can move, split, merge, approve and close topics and posts, and access roles such as Read Only, Standard, Moderation and Full Access control who can do what. The forum uses its own database tables with integrated caching, adapts to different screen sizes, and includes permalinks, metadata, open graph tags and forum sitemaps.

Best for

  • Support forums for software or product businesses
  • Community sites hosting member discussions and Q&A
  • Multilingual sites needing separate forums per language

Questions about wpForo

Can I run more than one forum on the same site?

Yes. The multi-board system lets you create several separate forums within a single WordPress site. This works well for communities that cover distinct topics or for sites that want a separate forum for each language.

Does it work as a Q&A forum for customer support?

It does. Q&A is one of the four available layouts, alongside Extended, Simplified and Threaded. You can also create private topics that only the topic owner and moderators can see, which helps with support questions that should not be public.

Do I need a separate plugin for member profiles?

wpForo includes its own member profiles with tabs for activity, subscriptions, bookmarks and account settings, plus a searchable and filterable members directory. For many forums, that covers what a separate profile plugin would provide.

How much control do I have over who can post and moderate?

You can define access roles such as Read Only, Standard, Moderation and Full Access. Moderators get tools to move, split, merge, approve and close topics and posts, so you can assign responsibilities to trusted members.

Is wpForo free?

The code of wpForo is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of wpForo is this?

Version 3.2.2, released Sep 28, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.

How do I update wpForo?

Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of wpForo automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
