What it does
Many sites give away useful files such as ebooks, software, whitepapers or templates, but visitors often grab the file and leave without any way to stay in touch. This extension solves that by putting a subscription step in front of selected downloads. A visitor has to subscribe to your MailChimp list before the file becomes available, so every gated download adds a contact you can reach later. You decide which files are locked, and the rest of your downloads stay open as usual.
The extension works alongside Download Monitor and the free MailChimp for WordPress plugin. You lock a download with a single click, then place the familiar mc4wp_form shortcode to show the signup form that releases the file. Double opt-in is supported, and you can include unique download links in your final welcome emails through MailChimp's dynamic URL features. The locked content is edited in the standard WordPress editor, it comes with built-in styling, and it is designed with GDPR requirements in mind.
