What it does
If you offer files on your WordPress site, you may want visitors to agree to certain rules before they take them. This extension handles that inside Download Monitor, so a separate form or manual process is unnecessary. A checkbox appears with your own wording, and the download only goes ahead once the visitor ticks it. You can link that text straight to your terms page so people can read the policy before agreeing.
You decide where the requirement applies. Turn it on for every download across the site, or limit it to specific files that need extra care. The extension also protects direct download URLs, so someone who copies a file link cannot skip the agreement step. Settings live in the familiar Download Monitor interface, and a no access modal can be shown when a visitor has not met the requirement.
Best for
- Sites distributing documents, software or media files
- Businesses needing users to accept policies before downloads
- Existing Download Monitor users wanting an agreement step
Features
Visitors must tick a checkbox agreeing to your terms before a file download starts, giving you a clear agreement step for every protected file.
Write your own message beside the acceptance box and include a direct link to your terms and conditions page so visitors can review it first.
Apply the terms requirement to all downloads at once, or enable it only on the specific files where you want visitors to agree first.
Direct download links are protected, so visitors cannot bypass the agreement by pasting a file URL into their browser or sharing it with others.
A modal window can appear when a visitor tries to reach a download without meeting the requirement, explaining why access is held back.
All options sit within the existing Download Monitor interface, so you manage terms alongside the downloads you already have set up.

Questions about Terms and Conditions
Does this work without Download Monitor?
No. This is an extension for the Download Monitor plugin, so you need Download Monitor running on your site. The terms checkbox and its settings are added within Download Monitor's own interface.
Can I require terms on only some of my files?
Yes. You can enable terms acceptance globally for every download or apply it only to specific files. That lets you keep casual downloads open while placing an agreement step on the files that need one.
Can people skip the checkbox by using the file link directly?
The extension protects direct download URLs, so visitors cannot get around the agreement by opening a file link directly. Downloads stay conditioned on accepting your terms.
Can I link to my own terms page from the checkbox?
Yes. The text beside the acceptance box is customizable, and you can include a link to your terms and conditions page so visitors can read the full policy before they agree.
Is Terms and Conditions free?
The code of Terms and Conditions is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Terms and Conditions is this?
Version 4.1.2, released Oct 26, 2023. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Terms and Conditions?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Terms and Conditions automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does Terms and Conditions need?
Terms and Conditions needs Download Monitor installed and active.
