What it does
Forums often need a quick way to measure opinion, collect feedback or run a small survey without sending members to an outside tool. This addon puts polls directly into wpForo threads. A member starting a new topic can attach a poll, add as many options as needed and pick whether people vote for one answer or several. Administrators set the maximum number of choices from the backend, so polls stay consistent across the forum.
Control is handled through the wpForo usergroup permission system, with settings that can differ by forum. You decide who can create polls, who can vote and who can view results. Polls can close automatically after a set period, and results can stay hidden until a poll ends or until a member has voted. Guests who try to take part are invited to register or log in. A Recent Polls widget lists active polls, and the layouts are responsive with RTL language support.
Best for
- Community forums built on the wpForo plugin
- Forum admins collecting member feedback and opinions
- Multilingual forums that use right-to-left languages
Features
Members can create a poll while starting a new forum topic, so the question and the discussion around it live in the same thread.
Add as many answer options as a poll needs, with a backend setting that caps the maximum number of choices a voter can select.
Choose whether each poll allows one vote or several, depending on the kind of question being asked.
Set a voting period so a poll closes on its own once the specified time has passed.
Keep results out of sight until the poll ends, or require members to cast a vote before they can see the outcome.
Control who can create polls, vote and view results using wpForo usergroups and forum-specific settings.
Display active polls in a widget so members can find and join current votes from other parts of the forum.
When a guest tries to vote, they are invited to register or log in, and layouts stay responsive with RTL language support.
Questions about wpForo Polls
Does this work without wpForo?
No. It is an addon for the wpForo forum plugin and adds polls to wpForo discussion threads, so you need a forum running on wpForo to use it.
Can I limit who is allowed to create polls or vote?
Yes. Permissions for creating polls, voting and viewing results are tied to wpForo usergroups, and they can be set per forum. That lets you open voting to everyone while limiting poll creation to certain groups, for example.
Can I stop members from seeing results before they vote?
Yes. You can hide results until the poll closes, or require members to vote before the results appear. Combined with poll timeouts, this helps keep early results from swaying later voters.
What happens when a guest tries to vote?
Guests who attempt to take part in a poll are prompted to register or log in, which gives visitors a direct path to becoming forum members.
Is wpForo Polls free?
The code of wpForo Polls is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of wpForo Polls is this?
Version 3.0.2, released Apr 26, 2024. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update wpForo Polls?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of wpForo Polls automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
