What it does
Public forum threads work well for open discussion, but members often need to follow up with each other privately. This addon adds a private messaging layer to wpForo so those conversations can happen inside the forum instead of moving to email or another app. Messages are stored within the forum system, and members contact each other using their forum nicknames, which keeps personal details like email addresses out of view.
Members reach their conversations from a dedicated My Profile > Messages page, where messages load through AJAX without page reloads. Email notifications let users know when something new arrives. Admins get controls to limit abuse, such as minimum post requirements before someone can send messages and caps on daily contacts, plus private message statistics in the wpForo Dashboard. It suits forums of any size that want direct contact between members without giving up moderation.
Best for
- Community forums built on wpForo
- Forum admins who need anti-spam messaging controls
- Right-to-left language and multilingual discussion boards
Features
Members can start private conversations with a single person or with several forum members at once, and only the participants can see the messages.
All conversations live on a My Profile > Messages page, so members have one organized place to read, reply to and manage their private messages.
Conversations load through AJAX, so members can read and send messages without the page reloading each time.
Members can add, remove, block, report, hide and delete contacts or messages, which helps them keep their inbox clean and free of unwanted contact.
Users receive an email alert when a new private message arrives, so they know to come back to the forum and reply.
Admins can set a minimum number of forum posts before messaging, limit how many people a user can contact per day and control who may send messages.
Messages can include embedded images, URLs and other content, giving members more ways to share information privately.
Private message statistics appear in the wpForo Dashboard for admins, and the addon is ready for right-to-left languages.
