What it does
Running a daily countdown usually means publishing new content by hand every morning and hoping nothing slips. This add-on handles that for you inside EventON. You set the date for each event, decide what stays hidden until then, and the content opens up automatically on schedule. It works for Christmas, and it also fits product launches, month-long promotions, educational series, daily tips or any campaign built around timed reveals.
Because it uses your existing EventON event data, there is no separate system to learn. Each event becomes an advent-style box in an interactive calendar layout, and you control which event card fields are hidden before the event date and after it passes. Behind each date you can place images, text, videos, download links, coupons or event details. Box styles are set in the appearance settings, and the advent content box is available in the event card designer, so the calendar matches the rest of your site on phones and desktops alike.
Best for
- Sites already running the EventON calendar plugin
- Shops and brands planning holiday or seasonal promotions
- Educators and bloggers sharing daily tips or lessons
Features
Date-based content reveal
Event details, deals or media stay hidden until their set date arrives, then appear automatically with no manual publishing needed each day.
Field visibility before and after
Choose which event card elements stay hidden before an event date and which are hidden once the event has passed.
Works with existing EventON events
Converts your current EventON events into advent-style entries, using the event data you already have instead of a separate setup.
Mixed content behind each date
Place images, text, videos, download links, coupons or event specifics behind any date to vary what visitors find each day.
Styling in appearance settings
Advent content box styles sit in the appearance settings, and the box can be placed through the EventON event card designer.
Responsive calendar layout
The interactive grid of event boxes is built to work on mobile devices as well as desktop screens.
Translatable frontend text
Language translation strings are included for the frontend, so the calendar can be presented in your site's language.
Questions about EventON - Advent Calendar
Do I need EventON for this to work?
Yes. This is an add-on for the EventON calendar plugin. It converts events you create in EventON into advent-style entries, so EventON needs to be in place on your site first.
Can I use it outside of the Christmas season?
Yes. The reveal works for any date you choose, so it suits product launch countdowns, month-long marketing campaigns, educational series, daily tips or any other content you want released on a schedule.
What kind of content can I put behind each date?
You can add images, text, videos, download links, coupons or regular event details. You also decide which event card fields stay hidden before the date and which are hidden after the event passes.
Do I have to publish each day's content manually?
No. Once each event has its date set, the content becomes visible automatically when that date arrives. You can prepare the whole countdown in advance and let it run on its own.
Is EventON - Advent Calendar free?
The code of EventON - Advent Calendar is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of EventON - Advent Calendar is this?
Version 2.0, released Nov 30, 2021.
